On behalf of MYLA board, we wanted to take a moment to thank you. Thank you for believing in our mission of identifying, developing and connecting leaders by investing in their futures. Thank you for your participation in our events, for your generous donations, and for your interest in this community fund. Thank you for your feedback and suggestions. Thank you for attending our workshops. Thank you for your support.
Special thanks to all of our donors who have helped us support 11 Scholarship awards this year. With your generous support, we have been able to continue our commitment. Your donations helped us launch a new major initiative this year that MYLA has not done before - the Leadership Training by OakTree Institute’s instructor, Mohammed Almathil. We would like to especially thank Al-Amal School for allowing us to use the space for us to host the leadership workshop for both student leaders and other community leaders representing various non-profit organizations. During this transformational weekend seminar, students learned how to be proactive in choosing a career. Leaders from other non-profit organizations learned how to run a successful organization.
Here is a brief overview of 2015 for you!
2015 Year in Review
MYLA donors and recipients come together at this annual event to connect.
Donors get a chance to meet with the recipients and the board members and share feedback.
This year, we had Dr. Amin Rahmatullah and Nausheena Hussain as keynote speakers.
MYLA held its annual fundraiser in May.
Mohammed Almathil was the keynote speaker and motivated and encouraged everyone for their participation.
Thanks to our donors, we raised over $40,000.
Annual Award Ceremony
Annual award ceremony was held in August.
Recipients, their families, and community members participated in the award ceremony.
Donors handed out the awards to their respective recipients of named scholarships.
Destined to Lead: How to Succeed as an Individual?
MYLA held a Leadership Workshop with Mohammed Almathil for this year’s scholarship recipients.
Recipients learned to equip themselves with the knowledge and tools necessary to succeed. They identified obstacles as they embark on different stages of their lives as well as learned to overcome them and maintain a balanced lifestyle. In addition, they gained clarity on their life-pursuits and learned to have laser-focused goals that will make them exceptional.
The participants also learned different strategies of leading and influencing others whether on campus, at home, in the workplace, in their respective organizations, etc.
Here are a few testimonials from the participants:
1. “JazakAllah Khair for setting up this awesome workshop! I feel as if I benefited greatly!”
2. “Great choice of speaker!”
Nonprofit Management and Organization Development
MYLA offered this development workshop to the leaders of local non-profit organizations to come together for a greater good.
Participants from Qabeelat Madinatayn, Building Blocks of Islam, NWICC, Al-Amal, and MYLA came together for a full day seminar.
They learned how to lead their organization and take it to the next level. As leaders, they were exposed to high-level training with latest research and practical methods to enhance their effectiveness as leaders.
Here are a few testimonials from the workshop:
1. “I wanted to thank MYLA and its volunteers for giving the Twin Cities community the opportunity to come and learn about the topic of leadership. The timing was good, communication was clear and timely, and the instructor was wonderful.
Please convey my thanks to the rest of your team. Look forward to having the opportunity to attend more events like this in the future.”
2. “Best leadership workshop I've ever attended (and I've attended many over the years). I was pleasantly surprised at the level of professionalism and punctuality of this workshop. It reflects not only the standard of service for MYLA, but also MYLA's ability to be able to host a workshop of this caliber. JazakAllah Khair!!”
