Can previous scholarship recipients reapply?
Yes, past year's scholarship recipients can apply as long as they have not yet received a total of $9000 in MYLA scholarships since 2007-2008 school year. Total award will be limited to $9,000 over a 4 year period.
When is the deadline for the application?
The deadline for the 2010-2011 MYLA Scholarships is midnight on June 11th, 2010
Who can apply for the scholarship?
The eligibility criteria is listed in the MYLA application form. Please review them carefully. If you have any questions, please contact MYLA for clarification.
How do I access the new online application?
Please visit the Applications Page on the MYLA website to access the 2010-2011 online MYLA Scholarship Application.
You will need to register for the online application using your e-mail and password. The online application supports saving your work and continuing at a later time. If you find any errors in the online application form, please let us know using the contact us form.
Do I need to send anything via mail?
Yes, the transcripts need to be sent via regular mail for all scholarship applications.

In order to promote the pursuit of law and journalism education and political activism among our youth, MYLA will be providing special consideration to students currently pursuing law or journalism degree or active in the political arena. This will be in the form of bonus credits awarded based on completing the associated sections in the application form reserved for students meeting the criteria for these area. Can I have more than two (2) Letters of Recommendation sent?
Please only have two (2) Letters of Recommendation sent to MYLA. If more than 2 letters of recommendation are received by MYLA, only two letters will be randomly chosen. Please also NOTE that if two letters of recommendation are not received by MYLA, then it will disqualify your application.
Letters of Recommendation is sent automatically by MYLA to the recommendors based on the information provided in the application form. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that the recommendors have received the automated request for recommendation from MYLA (MYLA is not responsible for any emails that may go to any party's spam filter) and has been submitted to MYLA by the application deadline date.
Do I need to send my high school transcript or if I am in graduate school my undergraduate transcript?
Those students entering their freshman year and those entering their sophomore years in college are required to send an official high school transcript as well as an official college transcript.
Those students currently enrolled in their graduate degree program are required to send an official undergraduate transcript as well as an official graduate program transcript.
I have sent an Email but I have not received a response?
If it has been 3 days since you sent MYLA an email and have not received a response, it is likely that either we did not get your email or your ISP filtered out our email response.
You can use the web based form on the MYLA website to resend your question. Also, please make sure that your ISP provider is not filtering out MYLA emails.
You may also want to include MYLA email address in your address book and/or your list of email addresses that should not be filtered out by your ISP.
I do not see the link for letter of recommendation form on the MYLA website. How can I print the recommendation form?
Recommendation forms are not available for printing anymore. Letters of recommendation have to be filled online by the recommenders. Applicants will be asked to fill out contact information in the application for their recomenders. An automated e-mail will be sent to the recommender containing the link to the online recommendation form. The recommender will be required to fill out this form and submit it ONLINE.
